So, I have some very exciting news for you all, I have taken part in my first podcast with the amazing Al Coates from The Adoption & Fostering Podcast (links below). This was a huge step for me and something I have been very hesitant to do in the past. I have wanted to tell my story for a while now but have always been held back by fear of what people may say.
Since going through the adoption, I have always felt a certain level of shame regarding my experiences, not because I have any regrets or that I felt I did it for the wrong reasons, it has been purely down to some of the reactions from others I have experienced along the way. However, I have now begun to understand that any negative comments from people, most likely come from a place of pain, or from a lack of understanding of the circumstances, and that's okay.
Although some people have passed comments or made a judgement about my circumstances, I have to say, the majority of people have been extremely supportive and intrigued by my story. People are often fascinated to understand what lead me to choose adoption, what the process was like and how all of our lives look now.
I felt that now was the right time to share my story on an open and public forum with the hopes it goes some way toward my mission of helping other birth families feel supported and heard throughout the process of adoption and/or fostering.
